Over the past 20 years, programs started by parents in the 1970’s and 1980’s to provide in-home respite care and family support have become established among the valued long-term care resources available today.

But, our job is not finished. Many more families need assistance and, today, over 100 families are waiting for our services. Some will wait two to three years to get help.

Our Families Can’t Wait campaign began in 1999 to raise funds to provide financial assistance to meet the most urgent needs of waiting families for respite care and/or financial assistance. Since then, we have raised more than $780,000 that we have used to help over 400 families purchase disability-related goods and services needed by their children. "Families Can’t Wait" grants are used to pay for respite care, home and vehicle modifications, adaptive equipment, child care, summer camps, recreation, therapy and medical care, and parent training.
